Llangefni is Anglesey's county town and principal administrative centre. It is also a major cultural centre.
Art & Culture
Leading the way is the Oriel Môn Anglesey Museum and Art Gallery. The free entry art gallery hosts an annual calendar of leading art, while the museum houses some fine historic treasures.
There is a permanent exhibition of the works of Charles Tunnicliffe one of the most famous wildlife artists of his generation. Tunnicliffe had his studio at Malltraeth on the Cefni estuary on the south-west corner of Anglesey, where he worked for 35 years.
There is also an exhibition of works by Sir Kyffin Williams.
The gift shop offers souvenirs and local art and crafts (a special Christmas Crafts Fair runs from November until Christmas). It also has a popular restaurant, plus an evening programme of music and other performing arts.
There's also amateur theatre at Theatr Fach (tel: 01248 750348) and monthly Celtic song, music and dance evenings at St Cyngar's Church Hall (tel: 01248 421071). 'Gŵyl Cefni' a street festival of contemporary Welsh music and dance, is usually held at the end of August.

Beaumaris & Beaumaris Castle. A World Heritage site, Beaumaris Castle was built during the reign of Edward I and is possibly the most sophisticated example of medieval military architecture in Britain. Partly surrounded by a Moat, this magnificent structure dominates the picturesque little town on the shores of the Menai Strait.
While in Beaumaris visit the Courthouse Museum & Gaol. The Gaol was recently featured on TV's 'Most Haunted'. The Courthouse dates from 1614.

South Stack Cliffs & Lighthouse This breathtaking cliff-top site on Holy Island boasts walks, a visitor centre and closed circuit TV to view nesting birds. In summer over 4,000 pairs of seabirds nest at South Stack cliffs. From Ellin's Tower Visitor Centre you can watch Puffins, Fulmars, Guillemots and Razorbills and using binoculars and telescopes see live pictures of the birds on the cliffs. South Stack Lighthouse was also a featured subject of 'Most Haunted'.
The Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path Within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) covering 95% of the coast. The 125 mile route passes through farmland, coastal heath, dunes, salt-marsh, foreshore, cliffs and a few small pockets of woodland. This includes a National Nature Reserve (NNR).
Anglesey Sea Zoo The Sea Zoo is an exhibition of living sealife from around the coast of Anglesey. Open daily until November 5th.
